A FUJI ROCK Odyssey
- FUJI ROCK Transcending Time and Space Exhibition -

The "GAN-BAN 25th Anniversary Special Exhibition TIME CAPSULE2025: A FUJI ROCK Odyssey - FUJI ROCK Transcending Time and Space Exhibition -" is currently being held at SHINSAIBASHI PARCO in Osaka.

Since opening in Shibuya, Tokyo in December 2000, GAN-BAN, Official Shop of FUJI ROCK , has continued to disseminate music culture. Many FUJI ROCKERS surely have memories of lining up to get Early Tickets, dancing night after night at GAN-BAN SQUARE in Naeba, and being thrilled by "GAN-BAN NIGHT".

To commemorate this 25-year history, the "GAN-BAN 25th Anniversary Special Exhibition TIME CAPSULE2025: A FUJI ROCK Odyssey - FUJI ROCK Transcending Time and Space Exhibition -" will be held at PARCO HALL on the 14th floor of SHINSAIBASHI PARCO from 6/27(Sat) to 7/12(Sun), 2026. Following its successful run at SHIBUYA PARCO from the end of last year to January of this year, this FUJI ROCK exhibition is now touring, and we'll introduce some of its highlights.

The entrance area reflects the excitement as the event approaches.

The first thing that catches your eye is the entrance area, where the venue map and Lineup for "FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL'26" are displayed. There are also biographies and live videos of the performing ARTISTS, mainly those on the four main stages, creating an atmosphere that builds excitement for FUJI ROCK as the event approaches.

This entrance area was not present at the winter exhibition at SHIBUYA PARCO, and it's a special touch made possible because the exhibition is so close to opening. The key visual design and Lineup text, which are familiar from social media and flyers, take on the presence of a work of art when displayed on such a large scale.

A gateway to memories that invites you back to that summer moment.

This year's FUJI ROCK exhibition is divided into three main areas. Guided by the striking main visual and opening statement, visitors arrive at the "Gateway to Memory," where video works by Kazuaki Seki are presented. Seki, who has worked on numerous music videos for artists such as Fujii Kaze, BOOM BOOM SATELLITES, OK GO, and Sakanaction, as well as TV commercials, dramas, and films, has been involved with GAN-BAN since before its inception, and has also worked alongside them as a DJ/VJ.

As eight monitors shifted like a round, photos and videos from FUJI ROCK flashed in a retrospective manner. The "GAN-BAN SQUARE" logo, interspersed like a DJ set, sent shivers down the viewer's spine; this design, too, was created by Mr. Seki.

Across the wall, the audience from the 1997 FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL held at Fuji Tenjin-yama is spread out, and as you move further in, the image becomes coarser, leading to the next area, "TIME CAPSULE". From here, a journey through memories surrounding FUJI ROCK begins.

A visceral experience like being present in a memory stored in the brain: TIME CAPSULE.

Art designer Chihiro Matsumoto's "TIME CAPSULE" displays all sorts of FUJI ROCK SHOP: pens, pocket ashtrays, mugs, lighters, wristbands, badges, and guitar picks. The closet is filled with numerous T-shirts, haphazardly stacked pamphlets, and old issues of "CROSSBEAT." The walls are lined with photos that graced FUJI ROCK and GAN-BAN NIGHT, a 10th-anniversary message from Masahiro Hidaka, and even a sign from the GAN-BAN SQUARE autograph signing queue. There's also a collaboration can with BREWDOG from last year, making it an area where anyone can relive memories without being bound by chronological order.

The main highlight is the installation of 232 FUJI ROCK live photos and T-shirts featuring past Lineup, adorning the center of the area. As you flip through each photo, you can relive your own FUJI ROCK memories, seeing the younger versions of countless stars. As you recall "that year, that stage, that moment," not only will nostalgic memories come flooding back, but even memories that you had surprisingly forgotten may resurface. (Please note that photography of the live photos on these T-shirts is prohibited.) The photos are not neatly arranged, but piled up without any particular order, creating a feeling as if you are walking through the memories in your own mind, retracing your FUJI ROCK memories.

Matsumoto grew up in the Tsukiyono area of Gunma, a familiar sight on the way to Naeba. The mannequins that make a strong impression in this exhibition are based on FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL attendees who boarded the train looking exhausted on their way to school during their student days. That unique feeling, a mix of pleasant fatigue, lingering emotions, and the exhilaration of "see you next year," is vividly brought back to life, and the scene of boarding the Shinkansen on the way home from Echigoyuzawa Station comes to mind.
The space is striking because everything—from doors, handrails, and luggage racks to T-shirts and beds—hangs from the ceiling and sways gently. This unstable, floating feeling seems to represent memories themselves, which change shape and become vague as time passes, yet continue to linger in the mind.

The music for this space is handled by SUGIURUMN. The soundscape, based on ambient and dub, is blended with music from this year's performing ARTISTS , which is playing in the entrance and SHOP area. The sound is reminiscent of the hustle and bustle of Oasis and the Red Marquee blending together in GAN-BAN SQUARE, further evoking a sense of nostalgia. Looking down, you can see that the music is being played by portable players from that era, like iPods. The meticulous attention to detail in the design is evident.

"TIME CAPSULE" where no amount of time is ever enough. I hope you immerse yourself in your FUJI ROCK memories for as long as time allows.

The energy embedded in the expression:

Leaving behind the memories of the exhibition, which probably numbered well over 1,000 items, the world of small and medium-sized businesses suddenly unfolds.
Two canvas collages by contemporary artist Shohei Takasaki, who was also the first manager of GAN-BAN GAN-BAN.
As you get closer, you can see the details of the flyers and T-shirts. However, if you step back a little, they become a single mass, and their true nature becomes unclear. Nevertheless, the more you confront the works, the more an overwhelming presence that cannot be fully explained in words slowly emerges. You can also feel the ingenuity of the exhibition's composition, which moves between the concrete and the abstract, as if a vast amount of memories sealed in a "TIME CAPSULE" have been condensed and appeared before your eyes as a single mass.

Next to it is an installation by Kamikene, a collage of analog synthesizers and interface equipment. Sound is fed back to an oscillometer, which is used to check the operation of electronic circuits, creating a visual that changes its expression moment by moment.

Next up is a 5.5-minute video piece created by the video team "The Last Resort".
Amidst a flow of colorful motifs, memorable live photos appear dramatically from time to time. The exhibition concludes with a video that brings back recent memories through live photos, featuring FUJI ROCK since the COVID-19 pandemic.

A special museum shop that reveals different facets through the exhibition.

Beyond the exhibition area is the special museum shop area. The highlight is the arch-shaped object created by ZERO ACTION ARCHITECT, who once again collaborated with the "Under the Bridge World Music Festival" team, who are also behind Orange Echo, to create the wooden stage this year. Various words such as "岩盤", "GAN-BAN", "がんばん", "音楽", "富士", "ROCK"are linked together like a chain, and at first glance it may seem like a chaotic combination. However, the way each word is connected symbolizes the culture of Ganban and the connections between the diverse people, music, and cultures surrounding FUJI ROCK.

This exhibition goes beyond simply looking back at past FUJI ROCK. By exploring the accumulated memories and passion, you can anticipate this summer's FUJI ROCK. From the past to the present, and into the future—we hope this exhibition will further fuel your anticipation for this year's Naeba festival.
