When talking about this year, the performance of RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS is the first thing that comes to mind!!
Five years after Arashi's epic first-year performance at Fuji Tenjinyama in 1997, the much-talked-about return finally came to fruition. The anticipation from the audience, including the staff, exceeded all expectations, and the Green Stage saw a record-breaking turnout. The pre-show atmosphere, a mixture of excitement and tension, felt unique among all the FRF stages to date. Amidst this pent-up anticipation, the sound that unfolded was truly the best live performance in the world. Another notable feature of this year was the presence of many notable new ARTISTS, including THE MUSIC, BRMC, THE WHITE STRIPES, and Hajime Chitose, all of whom would go on to have such a meteoric rise.
Aside from the live performance stage, the highlight of this year's entertainment area was the arrival of THE PALACE OF WONDER, a mysterious midsummer night space! This otherworldly space was filled with "JOE RUSH'S MUTOID WASTE," monster sculptures made from recycled materials, and featured the "karaoke" Camp Site, produced by the late Joe Strummer, and "The Globe Of Death," a mad circus where several motorbikes raced around inside a small globe, creating an old-fashioned freak show atmosphere.

This was also the year that the park began using recycled paper tableware and participating in the "Carbon Neutral Movement," which involves planting trees to slow global warming, and the "Naeba Independence BOARD WALK," which allows visitors to create a barrier-free nature trail together.
