This year, marking the 7th anniversary of the festival, the lineup was as spectacular as ever, including Elvis Costello, who always delivers high-quality Lineup, Bjork, who captivates with the possibilities of music in a fantastical world, and Iggy Pop, who vividly displays his own lifestyle through his music.
As is well known, their current success has seen THE MUSIC and THE WHITE STRIPES perform in 2002, and newcomers who have appeared here are definitely worth checking out. JET will be performing at the Red Marquee, which is just as noteworthy as the main stage. THE MUSIC will be making a triumphant return to the Green Stage! THEE MICHELLE GUN ELEPHANT, who disbanded a few months later, also graced the Green Stage on the first day with a spectacular performance.
Furthermore, a new stage will be unveiled for the first time since the venue moved to Naeba in 1999! Deeper than the otherworldly "FIELD OF HEAVEN," the deepest part of the venue, will be the "ORANGE COURT," themed around world music and jazz. The venue will feature a fantastic performance by world-class player Yosuke Yamashita, as well as the Shibusa Shirazu Orchestra, creating a unique atmosphere.

In addition, over the course of six months prior to the event, local instructors and volunteers from around the country joined forces to create a wonderful, entirely handmade "BOARD WALK." This was also the first year that TICKETS were sold out.
